Default Big Horn tires

Well I was curious about a few questions so I called Matt from Atvoutfitters.net
(ATV tires atv parts atv wheels atv accessories Suzuki Polaris Honda) to ask IF I could just buy the tires and have them mounted on my ITP wheels (really like them! my dims are 9" front and 12" rear) at the 26" stock size and YES you can. You could even go with 25" on those wheels, I was estatic in knowing that I could just get away with buying new tires Vs. tires+wheels. Also, he has lay away options too.

I talked with him for a long time and just a great guy to chat with about ATV products,
wheels, technical discussions etc. I learned about this on-line company from this forum (THANKS GUYS!) and can't say enough about his business integrity and his customer service. I hope to pursue my next tire kit after the holidays! I.E the Big Horns are a interest of mine for riding those extreme rocky trail terrain..8-)

Thought I share this with you all who may be in the market with Christmas&Holiday shopping like I was for along time and bought my Mudlites finally last year (Great tire too!)

Regards,

R'

I have the ITP Terracross and love them. Incredible tire! Purchased mine from Rocky Mountain ATV.

I have:
ITP Terra-cross
ITP Mudlite XTR's
Maxxis Bighorn's
And of course the all powerful Terrathon's

They are all different in different terrains and I do have favorites for different types of riding.

I guess everyone has their favorite tire. None are going to be the best at ALL conditions.
But the BHs,specifically the 2.0s, come the closest IMO. The obvious reason they beat out the Terracrosses for me is weight...
The only area that the BHs can be questioned in is deep mud(maybe snow,I don't ride snow so I can't say there) But I wish I would have shot some video of a ride I did a few days ago on the Outty, frst time I took the Outty down in the "swamps"...the BH 2.0s rocked for waht they are...I made it through some mud holes quite easliy actually, that I really expected to get stuck in ..I went expecting to put my winch to use and didn't have to....they aren't a mud tire but if the mud is fresh(no deep ruts dug out) they will do better than most would think. I was in mud that I had to drag the frame through...and they got the job done. IMO the only way to get through deeper mud is really ground clearance or flotation(which goes back to ground clearance in a way) Once the frame is sitting on the ground and little to no weight is on the tires you are either stuck or using some serious body english..
I think if you want a good all around tire that has above avearge mud ability look at the Zillas...thinking about a set of 28's myself...but so far I haven't had any issues on the BH2.0s that some creative driving couldn't cure...they will go more places than the looks elude to.
Best all around tire made hands down...Like I said I need to try the Zillas, they may be the ultimate in-between tire...but IMO if you want to be unstoppable in the mud get some Silverbacks...everything else Big Horns..JMO

And I agree, Matt/ATVOUtfitters is a great vendor to deal with.

It's hard to convince some, but I agree 100%, HO.

The bars on the tires lug through mud as long as they stay somewhat cleaned out. The 2.0 may be a tad better because it has less lugs and a little more spacing than the original. Not much difference though.

They do great in the snow because of the bars and a radial construction helps with the flat, wide footprint. The 12" size works even better, and better yet with a very light machine.

I also would like to try out some big zillas, but haven't found a good reason yet.
There is a reason the "seasoned" riders choose the same tire for every atv they have had......

So whats the bigger improvements on the BH2's compared to the original BH?
And if more money (well you know that, lol) then is the price diff worth the
added gains?

Thx all!

Typically the 2.0 is cheaper to buy than the original bighorn. It is basically the same tire, but the lugs are spaced a bit more and few less of them, making them a tad lighter.

I have yet to see a comparison of the two head to head. I am willing to bet that there is no noticeable difference.

The only difference you'd notice is that the 2.0 is blackwall only. The original you get the white lettering.

Yep...Roofer pretty much covered it...they are a little lighter and have smaller lugs surface area wise and therefore a little more open area between the lugs. I also agree there probably isn't alot of difference in the performance between the 2,just from looking at them the 2.0 should clean out a little better in the mud than the originals, but that is just speculation on my part. I just mentioned the 2.0s because that is waht I have the most experience with.

2.0
