I bought mine last February I believe. Can't remember the build date, but it had to be well before that. I wonder what that means since it's in the shop with a completely shot right ball.

I don't know how I missed this post but I printed the letter (Thanks HO) and will be asking my dealer about this ASAP! I didn't get the letter in the mail so I guess (assume) that my XP isn't involved in this recall. I'll double check THAT though!

I didn't get a letter either rancher. I saw and read the memo sent to the dealer.

the parts that are on backorder are the HARDWARE KIT. POLARIS IS DUE TO RECEIVE THEM ON THE 18TH OF DECEMBER. BUT DEALERS MIGHT NOT RECEIVE THEM TILL AROUND CHRISTMAS.

FINALLY....(almost)

I dropped off a card I got in the mail for $20 off $100 spent to be used on a rear lock and ride box (and also for a TV drawing) but my dealer said that both axles have been installed and the one side has been totally changed out with all the recall parts. Apparently the other side will be in early next week and I can get my machine back after dropping it off 4 weeks ago!!

i'm not sure if anyone has ever noticed but look at the old macpherson strut design steel ball joint in an aluminum bore, if they made both out of steel you wouldn't get the ball joint out cause the easiest way to do that is to heat the strut housing the ball joint came right out same set up

Yes some machines have alum knuckles but some also have steel knuckles...there is a technique to ball joint removal with a tapered fit ball joint and a steel knuckle and it doesn't involve heat unless it is a rust bucket. Outlanders have steel knuckles with taper fit ball joints..I think anyone could look at the 2 designs side by side and tell you which looks like a stronger set up as far as securing the ball joint in the knuckle.
The alum knuckles with pinch bolts apparenly are't forgiving enough for the machining tolerances that Polaris" suppliers have,a steel knuckle with a taper fit ball joint would very likely be more forgiving,ie less prone for the joint to be able to wobble in the knuckle and therefore more reliable and safe...
I'm not saying the alum knuckle pinch bolt design can't be made to work....but I think alot of people have lost faith in Polaris' ability to make it work reliably.

Ranch....Keep a really close eye on your ball joints. My right front was literally flopping around and it was "pre-problem" date according to Polaris. Regardless of any warranty dates or letter from Polaris....keep a close eye on this. I only found it by accident.

I think it's a good idea to move around the machine and push and pull on things every now and again. Pull parts off and check what's down inside and underneath.
