the heavier the wire, the more power they can handle meaning stronger pulling. imo

I think the RT30 is a 3000 lb. winch and the RT25 is a 2500 lb. winch. Probably a slightly stronger motor to go with the heavier wire.

agreed as above/ rt30 is a 3000lbs pull and the rt25 is a 2500lb pull, along with the ga of power wire. rt also stands for rugged terrain. the xts come with synthetic rope. the rt come with steel cable.

Synthetic all the way! The only thing you have to watch with Syn is to not rub up against something while pulling such as trees or rocks other than that it is a pleasure to use and will do everything a cable will with half the weight and no sharp edges to cut your hands!

When you buy the RT25 or RT30 does it already come with the correct MOUNTING PLATE or is that an extra cost on top of the price of the winch?

I'll have to buy the mounting plate separately.
