New to this site, hobby/sport. I believe I have narrowed down my first quad purchase to either some variant of Sportsman X2 or Can-AM Outlander MAX 650 EFI XT.
I'm leaning toward Polaris, mainly due to the utility bed/2nd seat combo. I was at a dealer today and they had a new 2007 800 EFI X2 Deluxe still in the crate with an out the door price of $9,100. I'd pay the extra for a 2010 X2 model as this is a much improved design. However, when I got home to do some more research, I noticed there is no mention of a 800+cc version of the X2. Did Polaris drop this version of the X2 as I only see a 550 2010 X2 now.....?

Somaliskinnypirate, what did you end up getting? I know this post is over a year old, but thought I would reply anyway. I'm sure you have found out by now that Polaris has had an 850 X2 out for a couple years now. I too am interested in the X2 and am always interested in feedback from owners.

The versatility of the dump bed/passenger seat is great. I don't have a passenger too often so I mostly use it for 1 up riding. The extra length in the wheelbase is great for going up and down steep hills and for soaking up the bumps. Not as good in extremely tight trails. I have only been on 2 trails here in New England where I had to back up to change my approach, though. That's with over 2700 miles of riding. Another clincher for me is the front storage box. I keep straps, some tools, a spare belt (not needed yet), small first aid kit, etc. in it. Nice feature. Also the 400 lb. rated rear springs are for real. I carry a couple hundred lbs. of firewood from my woodpiles to my deck many times during the winter and it handles my 350 lbs. and the couple hundred lbs. of wood nicely. My only desire is that I wish I had a bigger engine. The 500 is great all around but I also do winter riding where more top end is needed due to the slipage in the snow. Other than that I have been very happy with the quad.
