Default Replacing Coolant Hoses

I am in the first stages of work on a 97 Scrambler 400 and am very new to the ATV world in general. I have been wondering about the coolant hoses. I would like to replace all the hoses with something, besides the dealer, that would withstand the elements. I looks like 3/4 heater hose. Is this correct? And are there any surprises using a good hose in bulk,ie; one end smaller than the other? Last, What kind of hose would you suggest?
Thanks Bill

what ever hose you use, make sure it's the correct hose to hold up and make sure they don't rub on parts to cause holes. imo

Silicone hoses will be extremely durable, but they will be pretty expensive.

Well after researching my hose options I opted for Gates Green Stripe 3/4" and 7/8" heater hose. This hose is hard to find by the ft, but located it at a heavy duty truck parts house. I purchased 6' of 3/4 and 6" of 7/8 for just under $20 including tax. IMO, this is the way to go, if you want a heavy duty hose, but don't want the expense of silicon. I have pics, hope they turn out.

looks like it'll work good as long as you don't have any tight bends that would have to be pre-bent in the hose

I checked the fexibility of the hose prior to purchasing. It is suprisingly fexibile for the wall thickness. There were no problems on the installation, no kinks at all. I did use the stock spring and heat shield, but felt this may not even be needed. Just look at the difference in the wall thickness over stock, it may be over kill, but I like over kill at this cost. They also make a bendable spring cover that can help on some of those tighter bends. I hope this may help someone in the future, so far I have been very pleased.
