Bicycle speedo?
#2
I have a Bell 8-function speedo on my '01 400 Xplorer. I mounted the sensor to a flat bracket that I mounted to an existing treaded hole in the caliper mounting bracket. The magnet supplied with the speedo needed to be 1/32" away from the sensor. I took the magnet out of my pick up tool(would trip sensor at 1") and glued it to the rotor. Just watch where you put the magnet, so it doesn't hit anything as it passes the caliper and brake pads. I have around 150 miles since doing this and have ridding in snow, mud ect. without any problems.

Yes,I mounted it on the right front. I used an industrial glue that is similar to super glue. The magnet itself helps hold itself on also. The magnet I used is about 3/8" in diameter and about 1/4" thick. I got the magnet out of a telescoping pick up tool, that can be bought rather cheaply. I also had to add wire to the harness,as it was not long enough to mount the speedo to the bars.

I mounted mine on the front axle on the universal joint yoke (99 Scrambler 400). The front axle spins all of the time, the 4wd just enages the hubs also. Remember, it doesn't matter what size the shaft is that you use to mount the magnet if it's spinning the same speed as the wheel would if engaged.
Good luck,
