Tire Pressure for BIG HORN 2.0's

Default Tire Pressure for BIG HORN 2.0's

I just had my BIG HORNS 2.0 mounted today and they left the pressure at what I told them 7 but when I got the quad back home it was at 5 all around. I'm thinking there gauge was off, the tires felt soft…

Sidewall Recommends 7psi for atvs, I honestly put them up to 10 and they felt nice.. Remember I have an 850xp plus me (185lbs)..

What would you guys be running at with these tires?

Depends on what you are riding IMO. Fast smooth trails...10-12 is fine,helps with stability. Rougher slower stuff 5-7ish to help dampen the bumps...getting in some mud 3-5ish to widen out the footprint some...just make sure you pump back up before you start ripping down a fast trail after airing down. That is why I carry an air compressor...there is no one "prefect" pressure IMO.

5psi seems to work good for most of the trails here in Co.

Thanks, headed out tomorrow morning I will see how the 10 feels and go from there.. I also carry a compressor on board..

I will post some riding pics Sunday!

See what feels good to you. With 8" wide rims and 6" wide rims respectively, and having 14's......many variables there. I've used 12's and 14's and there is a big difference in how the tires react. I also agree with HO that it really depends on what you are riding. I use under 2 psi for deep snow and 4.5 psi on trails. To me anymore than 5-6 psi and they get a little too stiff for my liking, but it sure is easy to push around the shop.

Are you putting the Bighorn tires on the Polaris 850 with the stock aluminum wheels without rear spacers or modifying the torsion bar? I was told the tires rub without the modification, unless you have the black or camo steel wheels.

roofer,

would running them as low as 2psi make it more suseptable to popping off its bead?

I was told running lower than 7 psi (I have an 850 XP ESP) at the dealer I could expect ESP issue. I though about it made sense to me.

There is always a chance for anything, so I won't say never, but it would be VERY unlikely to pop off the bead with 2 PSI. 6ply tires and especially radials will hold up pretty well with even 0 psi.

5 psi is the norm,the recomented pressure is printed right on the side wall in most cases. The low presure help with traction,as the tire can form a wider foot print around objects.

When you watch those jeep rock clrawling contest those guys take alot of air out of there tires before a run for the same reason.
