Interstate battery store is going to get a visit this weekend their batteries are not that much less that 60 bucks if I need a new one they even have a sealed one for 80 something!

You can use plain old water. Worked at Interstate batteries for 7 years and we charged thousands of batteries that we topped off with water from the garden hose. If the cell is half empty or more then I would use acid but if thats the case your battery is probably going bad anyway.

Every battery manufacturer Ive ever read info from said use water only.
Why, not sure.
Ive got a 5 gallon container of battery acid - not even sure where the hell I got it.....so despite the recommendation I use the acid.
So far no ill effects.
I HAD a battery with a date code of 1998 in my KZ1000.....every 6 months I would have to pull it out and top off a few cells, I believe this was mostly caused by my battery tender as well as the battery being worn out. Despite this I would load test it and it would test OK....so back in it went.
Finally this month it test bad....very bad - it had a good run, I finally replaced it.....it didnt owe me anything.
