How old is the belt?
Then its about preferred clutching after that.

I have a Ski-doo sled that moves right off idle and Polaris 600H.O sled that needs over 2000 rpm to get moving then you have to hang on for your dear life until it tops out at 100 mph.LOL

explain more of what you are looking for? if it's what tlc is talking about and having instant moving when throttle is pushed, then a weaker spring is what is needed or lighter weights. although i would not recommend this making the bike engage even lower then stock would be dangous in my opinion and would be more of a dog.

well my belt is about 5 years old with 1800 miles and 180 hours on it. It dosent squeal or anything so i dont think there is anything wrong wit it. If i put a new one on will it make it better? So what im asking is what can i do to get rid of the legendaty polaris clutch performance. My bothers arcticcat once you hit the gas it takes off. Its a belt driven clutch also. What would you do to fix this. Clutch kit?

you need to pull your clutch cover off and take a lok at where the belt is sitting in the secondary and to check the condtion of the belt. pretty much your bike should be engaging the belt at a low rpm so it wouldn't but a 1/2 second and you would begin to move. now if the belt is bad or the clutch has issues then it would be a delay in moving and require more power(revs) to take off. what changes the engagment is a weaker spring or lighter weight =s inthe primary in which i don't think you would need or want. maybe buy a new polaris belt or at least take yours off and to the dealer to compare it to a newer one to check for major wear. the belt should be sitting above the secondary when at rest about 1/8". if not then the belt might be worn enough where it's causing a little lag. imo

I changed my belt at 2000 miles and the belt looked good to me but I did feel a engagement and performance improvement with the new belt.

I to have changed just the belt before and made a huge difference even though the old belt looked good. Now I keep the old belt in the tool box for the just in case trail side emergency

For sure check the belt and belt tension. If the belt is stretched to long it will be slower to react. The rest is depending on exactly what you are looking for. A clutch kit will give you more bottom end performance but everyone that i know will make the engine rev higher with a higher engagement. So it will take a little bit longer to engage if you slowly ease into the throttle but once you do or if you grab a handful of throttle you will have more power and response.

The sportsman normally have a real low engagement and you normally cant lower them, and if you do you will lose performance.
