Default how noisy is your 550 xp

have a 2009 550 xp and a 2007 700 grizzly and when sitting still at idle the 550 sounds extremely noisy when compared to the grizzly what i want to know is are they all like this , the noise does go away as you speed up the engine but is a little concerning. But if its normal i can learn to live with it. thanks for any input.

I was concerned about the sounds coming from my 2009 550 XP right after I bought it brand new. I took it back to the dealer because the sound was coming from the transmission box and I thought the belts were slapping around. Dealer checked belts and said they looked brand new (of course they did...the bike was brand new). Anyway, the sound is much more apparent in the cold and even more so when on terrain (backing up). I'm guessing it's the new design of the XP?? At this point I am not concerned about the bikes performance, just scaring deer as I ride to my hunting stands

The sound you hear is it only when you are moving? can you still hear it when you speed up? I have a sound on my 550 that sound like what you describe and was thinking about taking it to the dealer and was wondering if was maybe rear axle issue that i was reading in a another thread.

Only noise I have is from the exhaust and high idle. Exhaust has a lumpy sound like an aftermarket cam. It seems to go away when my wife starts screaming.

I've got a 2010 550X2. Yes, at idle it has a sort of thumping, knocking sound similar to a lawn mower. When above idle it smooths out just fine. I think this is just the way this single cylinder design happens to be. I've not yet heard any engine issues yet with the 550 that would cause me concern. Sort of reminds me of the way Subaru engines sound....kind of noisey and crappy, but never stops running.

Funny because it's a Fuji engine, and Fuji's parent company is Subaru. Or the other way around, don't remember.

I only purchased mine about two months ago and they said they already did any computer recalibrations. I am normally a VERY picky person when it comes to engine noise. But....it seems like this is just the way the 550 sounds.
