ok all with the big rant over what Jack Schultz had to say Tell us whats your idea is of Performance is??? in a sport quad and in a Utility quad?

Keep in mind there are lots of lawyers out there ready to sue OEM's for building "suicide machines"

be realistic with money too

i mean dont say " i want 200hp twin sport quad for $4000"

later

Ok Like I said before the 500cc engine polaris has is a very good motor just needs a little work
the engine itself is bulletproof take there engine port and polish high compression piston punch it out abit will you are at it I would like EFI a longer duration cam.the motor could handle these mods easy. Now the engine should be pushin I figure around 50 to 60 hp at 10,000 RPM that is plenty.
Now frame I would get lonestar frame made with aluminum and titanium 12 inches of travel front and rear. a 2 inch extended swing arm 10" itp 190 rims all round 22 inch xct holeshots all round.
5 gallon tank a six speed with the first 5 gears close ratio and the 6th like and overdrive but not to tall of a gear so it still has some pullin power Kick start with electric. two 60 watt lights handle bar mounted and I would like a tall reverse gear somwhere around a 30 mph limit.
Now thats a BIKE I figure you could get this for around 8000 that sounds realistic.
Well you asked ......lol

Have a good one

Yeah, millenium, I like the way you think. Can we have independent rear suspension too? And keep the weight under 400 lbs for the 2 wheel drive, under 450 for the 4x4. Oh yeah, don't forget reverse. All these racing frames like the Lonestar started with the Honda CR250 and improved on it. They are lighter, longer, stronger, stiffer and wider. Add to that more power and better suspension. That is the ticket.

I'm sure everyone takes what Jack"***" has to say with a grain of salt. He must be one ignorant SOB to have dumped so much money into "junk".

Put the 400 2 stroke on an aluminum frame (get the weight below 400 lbs.)with double wishbone front suspension and independent rear suspension. Aluminum rims all the way around with a decent set of track tires. Trick the motor out a little more from the factory with a stronger clutch, nice pipe, performance reeds and higher compression. 60 hp. Then maybe a little taller gear in back and better shocks all the way around. Price it out about $6000.

That would create a quad that could be considered a "true" sport quad and could then face off evenly with the 400ex, banshees and such.

As far as a utility quad, I dunno? I guess I already consider Polaris at the top of the pile in that arena......

Excellent topic ledebuhr1.I'm getting really sick of reading the posts of a few people ragging on the Polaris quads for what they AREN't.To me performance is defined as how well a machine does what it was INTENDED to do.The sportsmans were designed to be utility/trail machines and no one can dispute the fact that they do an AWESOME job at what they were designed to do.The same goes for the scrambler series..trail machines. How can you knock a machine that can tackle more on the trail than any other sport machines?(4x4 version)I'm sorry to say that the machine that a few of you are craving will never be built because honestly there is no demand for such a machine. The majority of people don't want a machine like that so it wouldn't be worth the effort for polaris to build one.Let us just appreciate what polaris HAS brought us which is what 99.9% of people in this forum will call the best atv's on the market.

Performance to me is always changing, The reason I like riding so much is because I can build whatever I own to whatever level I want, right now I like how my 400 performs but by winter ill probably be looking into what to do next!!

Yeah fourlix
Independent rear suspension that would be cool Yeah I think we could get all that under 400 pounds.
Did you ever see the LT 250 with the Independent rear suspension someone put on it I cannot remember where I seen it now I think it was in a magazine somewhere anyways it was pretty cool I think they also did something to get rid of the body roll too not to sure though.

Have a good one
