I've got close to 500 screw-in carbide studs in total in the ITP 589's on my 2010 850. Choose the correct thread length, so you don't screw right into the carcass of the tire and you'll be fine. I used 3/4" and the lugs on my tires are a little over an inch. I'll be pulling them out in a couple months and don't foresee anym issues.

Highvelocity is right, if you pick the right studs for your tread depth you won't have any problem at all. You can even order them online www.maxigripstore.com. They sells carbide studs that you can reuse for more than one season.

Easy to fit in, easy to remove.

Double check to make sure it's legal to run with them on the trails in your area if not on private property too. Some states are sticklers on that stuff.
