Whats the best chip for a 05 800 for the money and power gain?

 

An engine is nothing more than an air pump. The only way to get more power it to push more fuel/air through it.

Some chips can raise the RPM limit and with a higher RPM you can flow a little more air through the engine.
The problem is, the cam and valves and airdoor and pipe and several other things can limit air flow through the engine. So HP gains are very very small by raising the RPM.

Modern FI engines are pretty much maxed out. The fuel/air is pretty much on the money, they have pretty good pipes, and the filters are good.

If you really want more power, my advice is, save your $$$$'s on things that can get more air through your engine.

 

I am curious to know about the chip as well. From all posts I have read thus far, seem like there is borderline fraudulent marketing on those chips making huge claims with power increases but many people say its not true?

i ahve my doubts of these power chips as well for alot of extra power. i like Dturbo's explaintion of how power is drivavived from which is true. it's kind of how turbos work as it forces more air for more power. maybe a chip also messes w/ the timing to advance it for a little more power. i know some have put a differnt off set key way in to get a little more hp w/ good results form the gain.

 

Are you looking at those power chips on ebay?

 

Well I had a 06 750 brute force with a moose power command and my friend had the same 4wheeler i had with out the power command and mine had alot more power than his and you could tell it riding them and it was 4mph faster also.. So i know they work for the most part but have not found anyone that has put one on a 800 sportsman.

 

I thought Dobeck made something like that...Not 100% sure though...
