Default ecm

all you can do is test fan and all related curcuits. only way to test a ecm is to replace it there is no way to test it.

A simple way to check for coolant circulation : If the ATV is running and over heating but its lower rad hose is NOT hot and hard like the top rad hose, then either the stat is stuck closed or there is a air lock in the system.

Default Bleeder?

There should be a bleeder valve on the head. Open about 2 turns and wait for the antifreeze to come out. That removes the air bubble in the engine.

Default Over Heating

Just thought of somthing else I seen once.... The overflow tube from the filler neck to the reservoir tank might have a pinhole in it-Allows the antifreeze to go to the reservoir tank but then looses it's vacuum to re-fill the system when it cools down. They don't leak anti freeze either. Try changing the tube and watch as it goes thru the cycle. Start with a cold engine. Should push out fluid as the engine heats and pull fluid back when the fan starts or the engine is shut down and is cooling. Takes awhille to run the cycle. Good luck

To check water pump is to check pressure!!! This is the only correct way to do this it will tell you if the W/P propeller is spinning on the shaft!! Looking into the radiator to check circulation is only a small part of it so when in doubt change the water pump or tell us what your W/p pressure is!

[QUOTE=badazzpred;2895323]when we drained the system we purged it for air then did a new refill as the machine was warming up we were filling the radiator as needed as it got hotter the fluid would rise in the filler neck and boil over or go into the overflow we have confirmed circulation from the radiatorQUOTE]

Just throwing this out there. In discribing your symtoms you say "as it warms up" and "as it got hotter" Are you sure it is really "overheating" and not just getting up to running temperature? Remember the fluid needs room to expand and the overflow container has a high and low mark. Is the fluid really at the boiling point? Just a thought.

Also is there a chance you could have a cracked head or leaking head gasket blowing combustion gases into the cooling system, causing it to overflow?

Good luck Bill

The lower hose does not seem to get hard or very hot however we did do the boil test on the stat and it does open and close, not very fast just kinda gradually so we thought that should be good.

As for a bleeder valve on the head I have never heard of that nor seen one? as for the hose it seems to be doing what it suppose to do.

The way we checked to see if the water pump was working is we loosend the top radiator hose from the radiator itself as we started the machine coolant was coming out of that hose on a consistent basis as the atv was running which would tell me that the propeller should be spinning.
