Default Glacier 1 question?

I have a used Glacier 1 plow setup that I bought for my 2007 SP 500. I seem to be finding that it Falls off of the mounts somtimes when backing up if the blade catches anything or when I am stacking snow and pushing it up the pile. Forget about backdragging it just bounces up and off of the front mounting bar. Before anyone ask's I only plow in low at slow speeds so its not like I am ramming things at a hig rate of travel.

Does anyone else seem to have these problem if so what was the solution. could it just be the mounting plate is worn to the point it is too loose?

Any input from other whom have had a Glacier 1 would be appreciated

Thanks,
wolfjon

When you hook-up the plow do you need to use the winch to lift the plow so that you can get the locking-pin in place or do you lift the plow by hand and the pin locks in easily?

I use the winch but probably could lift it by hand, yes the pin locks easily but the pin does not release, the actual thick armarture the clasps onto the mounting plate is able to lift up and slide forward given the right pressure or angle.

Its just a poor design. Mine has done this from day one took it back to dealer and they said that they could not get it to come off ya right. Mine also blows of if you hit something like a big crack in walkway or anything sticking up in area where plowing not all the time but on occasion. I do plow with it commercially about 1000 miles of plowing with it so far.in the past year and a half. Already reinforced the blade angle as this was the first thing to go down on me eliminated the to middle angles and doubled up the part with the notches in it. But have to admit it is way stronger than the glacier 2 Ive seen guys wipe them out the first night!!. Also if backing off a curb it hangs up. Ive just learned to live with it. Thought about drilling 2 holes in it to add bolts but would be a bitch to have to remove them all the time as unit will not fit in trcuk with blade on and be able to close tailgate!!

I had just the opposite problem! LOL!

When the plow was new, it went on with no problem and the pin would easily slide in then give it a slight twist to keep the pin locked in.

Then my G1 became more difficult to line-up the pin and required the winch to lift-up really hard to then get the pin in. Everything was just so tight!

The dealer was no help when I posed the question.

When the G2 was introduced to market, I sold the G1 and tried the new G2. I had MANY problems with the mounting plate bending/flexing and very quickly became fed-up with that one to.

To date I have the "new-and-improved" G2 set-up and things seem to be going well. But I am unable to endorse it for long-term reliability yet.

Good luck with yours and please write what you find the fix to be.

Come summer with the warmer weather I might have to see if I can change the Latch around then.
We are getting another 10-20 inches of snow today/tomorrow and it just to cold to be messing with at this point. I was just hoping someone had already come up with a solution or that it might have just been my mounting bracket was old enough it had gotten to sloppy and just needed to be tweeked back into place.

Your mount plate might be bad or not on quite right. My glacier 1 was on my 05 800(which ended up with a gorilla 6" lift & 29.5 laws) and my 09 800 and never came off(stock or modded) and I plowed quite a bit with it. Would keep it forever if I hadn't bought the tracks(never came off with those either) and had to go with the push tube set-up with extension so I can blade out. Still have the plow frame and two mounting plates if anyone is looking.
