Pictures are worth a thousands words sometimes

 

Thanks to everyone for your help and input. Heating up the strut and using vise grips and a hammer I was able to get the old ball joint out and the new one in. Put it all back together and the battery is dead. I know I wired it right but I think that my winch is draining the battery. It was a brand new battery last year. My tender wont charge it so I hope its not beyond help. Gonna get a real charger and see if I can get it going.
