Default '87 Cyclone 250x bog, backfire

Hey everyone, the snow is melting and I'm getting the quads ready. One of my cyclones runs great, the other fired right up, but then seemed like it was flooding out and then backfired. I then started it and it was like it was flooded, had to hold the throttle open wide for it to fire. Bog bog bog...died. That was yesterday, I shut off the fuel and came back out this afternoon and tried it again, fired right up but bogged and died quickly, backfiring again at the end. It's a 250 single 2 stroke, just like a trail boss or trail blazer. Am I going to have to pull my carb or are these the symptoms of a fouled plug(overfueled) on a 1 lunger? I'm pretty new to 2 stroke singles, so I'm still learning. Any help would be great as my wife would love to take a ride around the section! Thanks guys!

welcome to the forum.first pull the plug (if you haven't already) to see if it indeed is fouling form either way too much gas/oil. if it it is then yes most likely you'll have to replace the spark plug(make sure you have good spark to sure it's not a lack of fire issue) and then if you have good fire, remove the carb for a good cleaning and to make sure there is nothing wrong w/ the needle/seat and the float is set level.

I'm just waiting for the weather to turn nicer, too cold to be out there this morning! The more I think about it, it's probably just a fouled plug, because I had premixed the last tank of gas at 50:1 because I typically do that on my last tank before winter to make sure there's plenty of lube in the bottom end, but then my wife took it for a spin, and she has a tendency to not run things very fast and idles things alot. She probably stopped to talk to the neighbor, and with the injection pump and the 50:1 premix, it was probably WAY too rich!!!
