Default 05 500ATP throttle cable adjustment issue

I need to know if there is a way to shorten the throttle cable going to the ETC on my 05 ATP. I occassionally experience the "no idle" issue, and adjusting the cable usually does the trick. The problem is that the adjustment is now down to the last thread and if I go any further, it will no longer be connected. It seems that the only way to fix this is to shorten the cable an 1/8 of an inch or so.

Anyone have any ideas or other suggestions?

Thanks.

Bryan

Have you looked on the other end of the cable to see if there is any adjustment left on that end?

I haven't checked the other end of the cable. I'm assuming that I will need to remove some plastic fairing to get to it, correct?

i find it hard to believe your cable has stretched that much.i wonder if there is something else wrong. you're not using the cable as a means of setting the idle??

You should be able to remove the side covers and get a good view of it. The throttle control hasn't became loose and slid down the handle bar did it? Like the other poster....hard to believe that it's stretched that much.

if its a 500 carb model there is an adjusment on the carb, remove the side panels and look on the right side, to adjust it you may need to remove the air box and loosen the carb clamp, carb brace and bring carb into the hole vacated by air box. as said your not making it idle with the cable are you , there is an idle screw on the left side under the carb.
