I have an 06 500 and I went with a Highlifter pro seriers belt and have had nothing but
trouble with it. Everyone on here said to stick with the stock belt from Polaris.

I should have mentioned I am in a very hot climate in Costa Rica 85-90 every day and my bike puts off a lot of heat. So far so good with the original (2200 miles), but I need to have one ready.

Every thread about belts always ends up with the Polaris belt being the only good choice.

Ditto on the stock belt. Learned my lesson the hard way once. Had a "HD" belt shred with less than 100 miles on it years ago on my 02 700. Got a popo belt and never had a problem after that.

wish i took a photo, but had my sportsman 500 at over 45 degs nose down in a small stream full of mud today, water and mud over the top of the tires and water upto the lights. I could not back out as the wheels were off the ground. No winch and in the jungle in Costa Rica, but she dug out straight ahead. Should of had a photo, but my girlfriend was busy telling me how stupid I was, so I was distracted.

I tried a Goodyear Gator Back,I did not like it ,it felt harder and slipped here and there, I when back to a Polaris belt and it behaves much better.

If I was going to try a aftermarket I would try a ULTIMAX® BY CARISLE , I had good luck with them on sleds.

Here is a link to all kinds of aftermarket belts. https://www.justatv.com/pages/atv_dr.../beltdrive.htm
