I have a 2001 Trailblazer that I bought last year for my sons and I to play around with on a friends farm. The bike runs fine, but I have had a few people that have ridden it tell me that it doesn't quite have the power or hook-up like other TB's. This spring I decided to do some performance upgrades and ordered an RCR stage 1 kit among other things. This weekend I started to tear down the bike to do some cleaning in preparation for the kit. When I removed the PVT cover, I noticed that who ever had it before had installed the bushing and shims for the driven clutch on the outside at the bolt head. ?????? My question is the manual refers to an alignment tool to be used to align the drive and driven clutches when shimming the driven clutch, is there a way to get this alignment correct without the Polaris tool? If so, could someone share?

I would put the shims back behind the ckutch where they go and try it

 

It has one bushing and three shims, is this correct?

 

it's normally bolt,lockwasher,domed washer , clutch,then one or two shims on back.

 

thank you for the replies..... I placed the bushing and two shims behind the clutch and it look fairly close to the diagram in the manual. If the alignment is off, how much will this affect performance?

 

if you got it all togather now take it for a ride and see if its any better, my guess is it will be better but not as good as it should be. That being said the way the clutch was it for sure was hampering the performance now you need to look at the belt width. My guess is running the quad with a misaligned clutch will prematurely ware out the belt so if you have everything aligned and a new belt you`ll see a big difference.

 

Thanks everyone for the advice. I have a new belt on the way, when it gets here I'll put it back together and give it a test ride. I'll you all know how it goes.
