Question please help 94 trailboss 250 problems

i just recently bought a 94 trailboss 250 2 stroke. It runs great till it gets hot then boggs down like its out of gas and will move VERY slow. ive pressed the reverse override button doesnt seem to help. ive held the button in N to L shifting doesnt seem to help either. when it boggs down most of the time it will die. i can start it back up. if i let it cool for 15 min runs great again. Im new with this and confused any help would be appreciated. thanks.

is the air filter clean, clean enough to see daylight thru it??
is the fins on the motor clear and unubstructed (no mud, clay, or goo)?

i checked the air filter under the seat its almost all black, fins are a little dirty. i also just brought it in to the dealer and had a compression test done they tested it at 110psi. said i need to have the cylinder bored out and new parts and that was probably my problem. not sure what to think or do at this point i do not want to spend 1000.00 to fix at dealer. any ideas? i also replaced the spark plug and fuel filter.

11o psi should be able to run the bike fine and should not cause it to act as you mentioned. you should be able to take the filter out and just either blow it out or even lightly tap it agaist something to shake some dust out of it, but again i don't think that would be your issue. make sure the vents are clear and not pinched causing it to pressureize the gas take. you can check by loosing the gas cap. make sue the air fins onthe engine aren't totally covered in mud as this helps cool the engine while its running down the trail bein g it's an air cooled engine.

Like stendori said, run it until it dies then loosen the gas cap see if there is suction (a hissing noise) coming from it. My bet is its a pinched vent line for the gas tank.

Sure sounds to me like your bike is suffering from mild piston seizure(s) - That's why the dealer says you need to have it bored out and a new piston/rings. Are you sure you're getting oil in with the gas? If the bike has oil injection - are you sure you have oil in the injection tank? If it's a mixer - are you putting oil in with the gas? This is a 2-stroke - you need to have oil going in with the gas to lubricate the crank/piston, etc.

Don't get your hopes up on the gas cap vent Ben - If you were creating a vacuum in your gas tank - it wouldn't make any difference if the engine was hot OR cold.
