if the gas vent line is pinched, it might take a few minutes of riding before a negative pressure is created in the tank making you think it only happens once its warm. its not likely to happen when the quad is cold because it hasn`t had enough demand from the tank to create a negative pressure. It might not happen at all if the quad is running at idle because the air could pass the blockage in the vent line at a slow pace. To eliminate the vent line issue loosen the cap and go for a spin.

so i cleaned out the air box and filter, put in a new oil filter, and took the breather line from the gas tank which was under a cap on my handle bars and put it out, i drove it for two hours and didnt act up once even was riding hard. when i got back i did notice i am leaking oil where the head gasket is i think. the gasket above the cylinder not sure how hard that is to replace or if its more than just a gasket any ideas?

Hey Ben: No.1 - Don't go back to the dealer that told you that you needed to bore it out
No. 2 - You got lucky on your "easy" fix
No.3 - Yes - that is the head gasket and it should be easy to replace, BUT - maybe you just need to tighten the bolts/nuts that hold the head on if they're loose? Try that first. IF you need to replace the head gasket - just remove the nuts/bolts that you need to to lift off the head (not the cylinder - just the head), then just check the head gasket to see where it's been leaking. If it's shot - replace it.

ya i am done with that dealer for sure. i bought a gasket just in case. would it be a good idea just to replace it anyways or if tightening the bolts works just leave it? thanks again for all the input really appreciate it.

Ben: Since you have the new gasket already - I would go ahead and replace it. When you have the head off -- push the piston down to the bottom and just check for any grooves or scratches on the sides of the cylinder - there shouldn't be any.

I`m happy you solved the 1st problem, I also agree since you have the gasket go ahead and replace it. if you didn`t already have 1 (new gasket)trying to tighten the bolts might have done the trick. don`t forget to tighten the head bolts in the proper sequence and torque. Once thats all done welcome to 4wheelin and get ready for the next thing to fix
