I have 1996 polaris 500 sportmans,I was riding last night and the rear wheels locked up.I pull it backwards and they came lose.I now have clanking noise coming from trans.Could this be the main drive chain? any help or manuals would help thank you

 

did you jack it up and try it to see if you can pin point the noise?

 

yes I jacked it up the clanking noise is coming from the trans.The motor runs fine,when i shift the lever from revers to forward nothing happens.thanks for any help.I went out and played with a little more. I have found that it drives in low range but not in hi or reverse.I'm sure something let go inside just not sure what

 

yea it sounds like something let go for sure.
