Default torque specs for 1999 Polaris 500

Hello . Thanks for the last reply. Does anybody have the torque specs for cyl and head bolts on a 99 polaris 500 sportsman. and valve clearance. Thanks for any replies.

If im not mistaken the valve clearance on the 500s should be .006 on both intake and exhaust. Im not aware of the torque specs though

My manual only covers up to 98 and according to it .006 for the valves is correct. The cylinder torque, again for 98, is 46 ft/lbs for the 10mm bolts and 6 ft/lbs for the 6mm bolts. The cylinder head torque procedure is as follows; 22 ft/lbs, 51 ft/lbs, loosen evenly 180 degrees, then loosen an additional 180 degrees, torque 11 ft/lbs, then tighten 90 degrees then another 90 degrees. Install 6mm bolts and torque to 6 ft/lbs. You got that, sounds like some of the vehicles we have worked on LOL.
