Default Front Bearing Torque

I found this in a search for front wheel bearing; 160-170 in/lbs back off a 1/2 turn retorque 108-144. It wasn't specific, I think, on the year Sportsman. It seems like a lot of preload to me, compaired to the old auto+truck wheel bearings. But, I've had repeated seal leaking problems.
2002 Sportsman 500
Thanks

Yes final torque is 144" pounds on the 02 Sportsman 500. I always preload bearings to as it says about 160" pounds (15' pounds) and back off 1/2 turn and torque to 12' pounds (144" pounds). About leaking,is it at hub or strut seal leaking?,have they been replaced? If so the strut seal can be installed too far into the casting and will cause leaking, plus the hub seal has to be pressed in properly or it too will leak.
