06 Sp 450 solenoid problem?

depending on if your solenoid has 2 wires(not the big side cables which you hooked up right by the sounds) the red maybe red/white should trace back to the switch or push button(what ever starts that bike) and is a hot wire once the button is pushed/key is turned. this wire is has power going thru it to the solenoid only when you hit the start so it will energize the solenoid to start the bike. so basicly you need the key switch or off and on switch to be wired right as to make that wire a hot wire. hope you understand what i mean.
