Slipping Clutch?

yes the buttons are the shoes that the slide on the helix in the secondary. there are special compression test you could do for your springs but just as easy to replace. for the most part if the buttons are bad usually they make the bike hardere to take off like starting in a higher gear(like bogging) is the best way to describe it. imo

I will tear it apart most likely tomorrow; as it is was storming pretty bad today.
I hope it's not the silent chain but I have a feeling it may be that also.
When it slips it feels "jerky" then after like ~1 sec it grabs.... And it is ONLY if you hammer it all the way down and only from a DEAD STOP.

The best way is like Stendori said is to put them on a spring tester, but most people dont have access to that. The next best way is if the engagement rpms or top rpms are getting lower and lower its the sign that the springs are getting weaker. Usually the primary spring will fade away faster then the secondary. If its slipping more or less responsive its probably the secondary spring fading away. Its best to just replace both when you are in there.

Ok, I took it apart and out of the 6 buttons 3 look worn down.
Also, my belt didn't look to bad I took a pic of the worst spot where the back is separated from the cog section.

id replace the belt for sure, those are the buttons on the primary clutch the secondary clutch is the one of the transmission, you can just take the bolt out of the center of it and pull it off, flip it over to the backside and take the circlip off and the helix comes out you can check your buttons there. there are three of them, you can also check your spring

Took the bolt out of the center of the secondary and found that the secondary clutch is on very very tight.
I have not been able to get it off yet!
Not sure what to do from here; any tricks on getting those off?
I'm definitely going to put anti-seize on the shaft when (if) I get it off!

use a little wd 40 spray on the shaft where you took the bolt out then i've used a punch and a hammer and hit the end of the shaft don't get to carried away with this soemtimes you can break the rust loose like that. they can be a pain in the butt the first time they come off

Ive used a long pry bar, get behind the clutch and pry some, then hit the center of the clutch with a rubber mallet, dont pry too hard cause tha clutch cover is all plastic, may have to turn the clutch and do this a few times, Ive always gotten them off without a puller but they do make one.
