Default Checking compression

right now the engine on my 1996 trail blaz2er does not run and i know i need to check compression but is it ok to check using the pull start as my starter is fried also

Does'nt matter how you turn the motor over when testing the compression. 3 pulls should do it.

usually like on a 2 stroke you would hold the throttle wide open on a cold engine and crank 5 times for the best result. imo
