Polaris to close WI plant, move to Mexico

Unfortunately most of Americans feel this way. Most of the millionaires that invest in these companies have made their money by risking their money with risky investments. Polaris stock was about &55 per share in 2005, It fell to below $20 in Jan of last year. Even Jan 2010 it was about 44 per share. In the last month it has risen up to about $57. Bottom line is of course about profits.
We have a local boat company that you would recognize immediately. It closed down last year and wa shut down for about 10 months. They finally reopened when an investor put 10 million of his own money in it. What do they have , a man who is still out money, a group of employees upset because they lost some benefits, And a Florida dealer who just returned every boat he ordered due to QC issues. The most prevalent being no fuel line from tank to motor installed. If America gave a crap about what they produce (SOMETIMES) maybe the money men would stay American. Otherwise the rich will just put their money in stocks, Buy the toys themselves, and let the government build everything. Free market does work but it takes investment on both sides.
I wont even get into trying to find workers who will simply do their job with pride and satisfaction of a job well done. I know there is always exceptions but talk to anyone who is an employer and they will all have the same complaint. No one wants to be an employee anymore, they simply want a check. I am done with my rant, sorry

I agree with alot said above and I am NOT saying you are but....We can't blame AMERICANS! Afterall, how long was this WI plant opened, running, and producing cutting edge, innovative products that rivaled its competitors? I think its a little late to blame worker unions, our AMERICAN way and work pride that is long gone,. -- IMO!
All of us know its changing times and its the greedy bastards in WALL STREET, more liberal government and crooked politicians. When we all turn a blind eye to politics we end up with rotten eggs in the White house, congress etc. etc.
I am sure someone is happy about some of these business decisions like the Corporate a--holes, Power sport competitors, and the future Mexicans that may get a job, while our good ole boys in WI will be filing for unemployment and told why they can't get the health care they deserve and have to get crappy COBRA.
Sorry, I am just sick of it man! People get hand outs while us middle class keep getting screwed!

For the past few months I've been on the fence about purchasing a new Outlaw. I was deciding between the Outlaw, Raptor, or 700xx. Sounds like Polaris just made my choice a lot easier.
I feel bad for the community and employees, though. Yes, there are plenty of lazy employees in the American workforce. But, there are also still some who have a good work ethic and take pride in their work. These will the the ones who are hit hard.

Sounds like the town should call Yammee central office up and offer them a hell of a deal on an ATV factory. It's turn key and ready to go. Even with employee's.
Repaint the water tower and they are ready to go!!!

Everyone wants to make as much money as possible because we all know there's no one you can depend on but yourself. If the quality of your work is great there's still no guarantee your job won't be on it's way the India or Mexico the next week.
I feel sorry for the Polaris workers, now they have maybe 2 years to worry about feeding their family's and making payments on their homes.

I think that is an excellent idea. It would sure be a great thing for the people who are going to lose their jobs. Does anyone know if Yamaha already has a plant site?

I was talking to a co-worker today and he likes to SLED on his Polaris snowmobile and was taken abit about this annoucement, he also drives Polaris ATV's too even though the news is reporting only the WI plant that builds the ORV's will be closing and shifting that product line to Mexico. He was ready to ditch his Polaris sled and get Arctic Cat but seems that the MN and Iowa plants are okay for the moment.
