Polaris to close WI plant, move to Mexico

Yes they are! Bikes built in Thief River Falls and motors from St. Cloud. I think this is a poor choice from a Minnesota company. Polaris may feel some backlash on this and the fact is they were making money with the jobs in that plant but are bowing to the shareholders or board of directors. Bad move!

It is very sad to see more jobs leaving our country.I sure hope you do not think the Yahammer will be made with all american parts.Polaris has been using fugi motors from the get go.When they came out with the twins they were domestic and to my knowledge still are...Also some of the singles are produced by Robin which are assembled in the US.The only atv's Imported by Polaris are the small ones (Phoenix-Outlaw 90-50 and Sportsman 90)If I am not wrong I believe the Atv's will still be made in Minn.with some parts fabricated in Mexico..As sad as it is there is no Cars-trucks-atv's-motorcycles 100 percent domestic..But I will still spend my money on the products made or assembled by true American Companys..Such as Ford-GM-Harley and Polaris..I have to allegiance to any foreign company..

I have seem time and time again, they move to Mexico and quality does suffer. Whirlpool appliances were made in America and were very robust, they moved all the production to Mexico and now they are junk. People don't realized that Polaris will not have a factory in Mexico, they will use local contract manufacturers such as Leoni, Valeo and the suchs to build their vehicles, these contract manufacturers have the power to procure the components to "save" in costs, therefore using less quality parts. I know this since we make relays that go into Polaris machines and they have some production in Mexico already for their VDC's, the contract manufacturer already tried to switch our relay for a cheap Chinese brand but Polaris was able to stop it...how long will they be able to stop it??? Who knows...

This has been a big story on the local news today since Polaris is a local company here in MN.
Polaris announced today that they plan to close their Osceola, WI plant and move the operations to Mexico. Polaris is the town's largest employer so this will have a huge impact on the community. As part of my job for a local delivery service in the Twin Cities, I have actually been to this plant many times, as well as their corporate headquarters in Medina, MN.

Yeah, that sucks the locals. I like the fact that my bike was made in the US. Ultimately will this move impact the AMERICAN company of Polaris? Not likely.
Like others have said, you all try to screw your dealer the best you can. Price is king.
Republicans are trying to block Obama's attempt to limit offshore tax havens. Apparently that's now "un-American" to block dumping money and corporate HQs in Mexico?..... Very strange opposites for the party (don't leave the country, but don't try and stop them or make any laws against it). Not sure how they make all the connections, but a lot of low information voters buy it.
People will buy what's "best". If the new Polaris machines are the best rigs, 99% of previous owners will buy one. It's still an American company.
