The execs at Polaris (who have invested heavily in their company) who made this decision have the right to do that or to do whatever they want with the profits they make. I don't agree with them about going to Mexico but they have the right to. I also have the right to look elsewhere for my next quad. It did irritate me to see that my son's certificate of origin for his CanAm Rengade was Mexico. I can tell you that it does seem to be put together very well. But, did it cause it to be less expensive on the consumer end? I don't think so. Don't hold your breath waiting for a $1000 cheaper quad. Just my guess to add to rkuhnjr.

UCM,

I think what you are saying is what several in this thread are saying. We all don't
LIKE iT! Agreed MH, Polaris like any other company can do what they want but as
the customer base we are expressing our opinons against this company of laying off
so many of its good ole assembly line workers in the good ole USA and taking it
to Mexico! It's just really upsetting to see that happening. I know it must be
hard for companies to keep on a competing edge especially in this econonmy. I will
concede to that!

While we are not a manafacturing nation anymore I don't want to be building up
Mexico while we tear down ours, just goes against my American pride. My family
dates back to laying the railroad, working the coal mines and farming. I think
we should be more creative in private industry to give our fellow Americans
the work Vs. FARMING it out. -- IMO!

Regards,

R'

Half my family dates back to teepees and bows and arrows. The more that gets sent out of the country the less we are selling as a country. Not good in the long run.

Business decisions are business decisions and who knows exactly why they are made. I hope the decission makers at Polaris are following this thread as buying decissions are buying decissions and loyalty can be a fleeting thing!

I am sad to hear this and guess what. I have been a loyal polaris fan for my whole life, but a lot of that is because I AM AN AMERICAN AND I BUY AMERICAN MADE GOODS!!! So that means if polaris is gonna outsorce there products then I don't need to give them my business! IT's to bad to cuz if this crap keeps happening the middle class will be no more!!!

The worst part is just like many of you probbly know, they are doing this to cut cost... But you and I all know the cost of the new quads are gonna keep going up!!! It's just like the new Dodge Ram heavy Duty... The truck is made in Mexico but still cost the same as the Chevy HD... and My chev was built here in the US (flint MI) so if the labor is cheaper and the shipping is cheaper they why do they cost the same as the ones built in the US???

It is not about making the consumer happy, its about making the stock holders happy. In the eyes of the company bean counter the consumers are already happy with the product and price because we keep buying them. The stock holders on the other hand are not because things are costing more and overhead is going up which in turn lowers the profit margin they can stuff into their pockets from the stocks.

So they are fixing the overhead...

They're already getting close to 0% loans. Polaris Corp. is likely paying next to nothing for the money they borrow anyway. It's not the governments job to give out loans, unless of course you're talking about too big to fail (Macs, AIG). Interesting though how some talk of government in such foul ways, yet expect them to protect the consumer from the beast that pure capitalism can be. Regulation is a requirement....it's just a matter of how much, and where it's applied that in question (for most citizens anyway).

100% correct. That's their job. The stock holders OWN the company. You own the company, you make the decisions....period. You don't like it, don't buy it....but there's 100 guys behind you that want that new XU-900 model with a reported 95hp. It's business, and it knows of no national boundaries.

Don't forget they are not moving the HQ it Mexico. Lots and lots of people earn a quality living from Polaris and may keep their jobs in the long run due to this decision (you'd like to think so anyway). It's not like Stanley Tools that moved their HQ to Panama or Bermuda or some crap like that so they don't have to pay taxes. I never buy their junk anyway.

My cousin who is a Polaris owner (SP700) and forum member sent me this. I thought in
the wake of our discussions you all may find it interesting!
