Viper Max winches?
#2
There is a good reason that they are CHEAPER than a Warn, but there is a ton of posts on this subject. Type Viper in the search box and read on.
To get past the high cost of a Warn on a 550xp buy just the winch from an accessory store and get a mount from KFI (I think thats the right initials - search also cause there are several threads on this subject). I paid $48.00 for the mount. Good product & a bolt on.

I didn't read the KFI instructions properly and unncessarily modified the mount.

I just installed a Viper Max 4500LB winch on my '09 Polaris Sportsman 800 touring. Had to trim one side of the bumper about 1/4", directions are worthless when installing, you need to know what you are doing, but for the price you can't go wrong

Figured for $320 with Synthetic cable, why not go big. I have the 3500LB Warn on my Ranger 6x6 and is plenty on pulling it around. So yah, you don't have to go that big, but for the price......
