mine said like 110 cold with throttle open, once warm 80 psi, if you can warm it up and then do it..see what happens. mine ran good till it got warm and lost compression, wouldnt start when hot but when it cooled down fired right up and ran like bat out of hell still. my compession gauge was off compared to the shops by few psi.

Sounds like the wifes went it was on the downside.

Good person to give a call is Rick Ritter at Ritter Cycle. He can hook you up with all kind of goodies if you do have to rebuild it.

so in a nutshell, if the 250 trailblazer 2 stroke starts to have these symptoms, more than likely it's time to do the top end? is it bad to putt around? do we need to wind it up and "blow the soot out" quite a bit? so far, mine's done alright with a combination of both riding styles. i appreciate the posts on this, i've been watching the replies and taking notes, thanks to all!

Just my opinion, but the 2 stroke was made to open up and wind out. Doesn't mean you need to do it all the time, but just the puttin around seemed to foul a lot of plugs on ours. And can't say that led to the compression loss or not, but if you use a screwdriver for a hammer, it's eventually gonna break.

Sounds like your cylinder could be "out of round", and is in need of a top end plus hone or bore. Checking the compression when the motor is hot will tell a bunch

i,m a firm believer of running 2 strokes hard, when you think about it a chainsaw is wide open all the time, i have a poulan thats 30 years old, used every year alot, never needed rings yet. does putting them make a difference who knows, but your not hurting a 2 stroke by running it hard..cant remember who said it here but if your TB is run hard and used alot about 3 or 4 years between top ends, true?

last time out our TB ran fine in 94 degree weather besides the starting issue. so i wouldnt worry about running it in the heat.

So, the guy I bought it from had a Scrambler 500(saw it), this was his wifes machine and said she almost never used it (I know) The tires are original and like new. It runs like 50MPH on packed dirt railbed.

I am going to upper Maine (The Forks) in two weeks with my son and a few friends for a couple days of ridding.

my kids is a 02 and like yours looks brand new,no rust, plastic all perfect, bearings all tight breaks original also the tires...i was at loss for words when they told me top end needed rebuilding never would of thought by looking at the shape of it, but being how old it is even if it was rode 500 miles a year since new that would put it around the right mileage for rebuild i guess, my 400 was done at like 4 k i believe. and i think the 400s have a longer life being water cooled?? but not sure.

i bought our Po 250 TBlzr back in 2008. it's either a 00 or 01 (not sure), but anyway, the people told me it had maybe 100 hrs on it. his wife just didn't like it. so they would start it up every now and then for apparently years. i'm barely a shadetree mechanic, if it wasn't for this website, i'd be screwed. but all i knew to do was drive it like nobody's business and break it in. well, it hasn't broke down yet. and thanks to this forum, i can probably keep it running.

So, I took the My son with his trailblazer to The Forks Maine for three days of riding. Me with my Sportsman 700 another sportsman 400 and my sons ran the best of the lot. No problems, he loves that little machine, so flickable compaired to my 780lb monster. So I am guessing I just overheated it that day and it did in fact have a vapor lock, its still showing 135lbs comp cold and 128 lbs warm.
