i have a '04 sportsman 400, latley i have been noticed a rattle noise from the front end, doesn't seem to matter if it in 4x4 or not.
any suggestions or anything i should check out?

Check your CV joints,is the rubber boots torn? Does the awd still work OK,maybe the infamous exploding Plastic roller cage.

 

pretty sure that the awd works, everything seems to be working. it isn't a really loud noise, just some chatter, noticed the most going down the road.
it there some fluids i need to change or something?

I bought my 04 sportsman 400 from a friend.It only has like 200 something miles on it.I have been hearing the same noise from my front end since I got it,I am a decent mechanic and have looked that thing over extremely good and the only thing I came up with is I am hearing the U joints clicking.There is not any grease fitting to grease them.You have 3 up front and mine are not wore out. Would be nice to get some greaseable u joints for this thing.If any body comes up with any thing else,please post it.
