NO POLARIS IS "VERY RELIABLE"!!!!-----You want something reliable...get a Honda, Yamaha, or Kawasaki. But if I was going to get a Polaris, I would probably get a Magnum 500, a Scrambler 500 4x4, or a regular Sportsman 500-I don't go for any of that H.O. crap, they've had to many problems wit it in the sportsman.

I have no problem with the steering on the 2000 Model and have not ridden the 2001 yet (we have about 6 feet of snow). I am going to look into the modification to the steering and if its only a minor modification (say a bearing as opposed to a bushing) then I may add that modification to my 2000 model.

Andy~G:

The RMK is a Magnum 500 that has the new visco-lock front drive system that will be a little less of a complicated awd system, biggest plus....allows for four wheel engine braking on down hill runs when awd is engaged. No more will we have to listen to people gripe about the rear wheel lock-up on this machine any way. It also has the new Park-Lock in the gearcase so that it is not necessary to rely on the hydraulic disc brake park, which has a tendency to bleed off over a period of time. However I think the best upgrade is the fact that it has lower gearing in the gearcase, this is where this machine is really gonna shine especially in the steep terrain we have here on the north coast of Calif. I have already put the lower gearing in my Mag 500 and I absolutely love it, so what if I can't go 55 mph, I can still do 48 and that is fast enough for the type of riding I do with this bike(bought the 2001 Scrambler 2wd for the faster times). To end it the RMK has the rack extenders and both front and rear double-tube bumpers as well. Should be a heck of a machine. The Rubicon will have extremely stiff competition from the RMK when matched head to head I feel. The Sportsman can take a rest from all the bashing and move on to higher goals, finally. Let the world try to catch up!

Problems? Your the one with problems! And by the way it was your ludicrous response that prompted my reply to you! If you don't like Polaris I don't have any problem with that, But when you say no Polaris is reliable, well that is just way out of line and absolutly not true I own FIVE that ARE! YOU need to be a little more tolerant for what others like to ride and discuss here! I took your bait full well knowing how to expect your reply. Don't come in here expecting not to get a negative response with a comment like your's!

My reason for saying that no polaris is reliable in every ATV magazine when their doing the quad shootouts they ALWAYS have problems with the polaris'-for example, in the october 2000 issue of dirtwheels (sportsman h.o. vs. magnum vs. quadmaster vs. rubicon) and also the March 2001 issue (Sportsman vs. Grizzly)---So this is what gives polaris a bad name to me, im not trying to offend anyone but check these issues out for yourself!

Hey, I've read those rags. And all I can tell ya is I own five that have been to back to the dealer exactly ZERO times due to a mechanical malfunction of any type. With the exception of the factory recall for the oil line problem for the wifes 325 Magnum. Now if that is unreliability well, lets talk about a few Honda recalls!

My folks own two Polaris ATV's and they have had ZERO trouble as well. I ride with anywhere from two to as many as ten others at any one time of which there has been ONE go to the dealer for any problem...... stick thru C/V boot. Is that unreliability?

As for the Mags quoting of trouble.....I at times seriously question the validity of such claims. If YOU want to know the truth, ask me or any of my riding partners or others on this forum. I know that there appear a number of people in this forum that have had problems with their machines, however there are quite a few that have had problems as well in the Honda, Yamaha, et.al. If you want to know something other than B.S. well then educate yourself and that requires more than reading magazines! Ask us who own these machines what OUR experience is if you want a true reflection on Polaris reliability. It most certainly IS NOT as bad as you may think.

Let's make a deal, I won't call you names if you will not make misstatements without TRUE facts.

I have a 1999 500 magnum and I love my bike.
It has been in the shop a lot, but that is the way I ride (HARD). I blow a head gasket and crack
a cylinder, smoked two belts, broke a cv joint and
the flywheel came apart. But I,m learning as I go,
I will put my bike up against any bike out there.
And went I buy a new one it will be a silver Magnum 500 with the HO!

Parks (ThaLaw),

On the forum for 4 days and you are already making enemies. Not a good start.

In addition, please proof read your posts for spelling and grammatical errors, place the visor of your cap over your forehead and pull up your pants.
