08 sportsman 500 efi overheating HELP please

Just swap the relays around to test them....these machines had a lousy wire harness and a broken wire is a good possibility...ohm test from fan plug to relay...also might have an inline self resetting fuse taped to the wire harness, they are junk.

Yes there is an inline thermal circuit breaker on the harness leading to the fan relay on the 800. If shorted out,the fan relay wont have power to kick fan on,but from what he mentioned in his post he applied 12 volts directly to the fan motor itself and fan wouldn't kick on. That's the reason I just directed him to Spal instead of going through all the tests.
