2006 Scambler Problem...idles only..ECM?
My 2006 Scrammy has developed a bit of an issue that has me stumped. OH, and it has been in for the recall so it does have the larger upgraded ECM already, I did this a year or 2 ago. It will start and idle ok for up to 2-3 minutes then die on it's own, but if you so much as breath on the throttle it dies immediately. No rev up, just dies right away. The funny part is in order to start is again I have to turn it off and back on. If I do that it'll start right back up. If I don't turn it off 1st it won't start back up. So far I've:
- removed all the gas and put in fresh.
- removed the carb and cleaned thoroughly (didn't find an issue).
- Replaced screen in tank (petcock) thanks to breaking it off removing the tank
- Pulled about the fuel pump and cleaned (was pretty spotless)
- Put new fuel filter on
- Changed spark plug
- Inspected for any loose/burned/corroded wires. Found nothing.
- Pulled throttle housing cover off and found the 2 contact touching. I now have a good
2mm separating those, but that made no difference in the issue.
The only then I can think of now is the ECM. Sadly, I don't have another and not sure how to troubleshoot and the dang thing is $130!
