Polaris reliability

I see a advantage in weight if its a light sport ATV but on a Utility ATV? I know my friends 660 Grizzly and 500 foreman weigh 100 lbs lighter then my 500H.O but you can,t feel a 600 lb ATV being lighter then a 700lb.there all heavy.
You can man handle 600lbs.
How is getting a 600lb atv unstuck easier than one that weighs 800lbs, they both need to be winched or towed out and the winch does not care if the ATV or side by side is 1200lbs.
The lightest ATV we ride with is a 460lb 2wd 300 Kawaski Lakota, and when it get stuck we have to tow it out,the guy is not getting it out on his own muscle power.
My 500 feels like a lighter ride then the 500 Foreman due to the suspension being so much better at soaking it up over the rough stuff.

ATVs are no different than anything else. The more complicated and high performance they are, the more expensive and problematic they will be. If reliability is #1, by a Honda. For the record, my first choice would be a Yamaha because I feel they have the best combination of reliability and features.. if they only built a 2 up ATV (Rihnos are too heavy and expensive).

What about people who don't plan on putting 13,000 miles on an atv?
I've heard of CanAms going that far with few problems, but it was just a farmer using it to check his fence everyday. I doubt there are very many who ride around that many miles. Even snowmobiles don't get that kind of mileage from one owner. Sure, there are some, but they are few. The masses have other features more important to them.

Honda should get away from the OHV more and have more power, per cc . They already have a great OHC 650cc 4 stroke motor in there XR650 on/off motor bike that would be awsome in a Utitity ATV.
Its what Yamaya did,the 660 motor was in there XT660 on/off bike long before a Grizzly or Raptor.

hey, ive got an 87' Trailboss 4x4 that has been in my family soince 92'. the First time it has ever has the engine opened up was three months ago when the piston finally went. The bike has been riden by everyone at family reunions, visits and the like. we take it deer hunting, Moose hunting, Ice fishing, and sometimes turkey hunting to get to our blinds or stands. The bike has been pretty abused, it has been past the bars 4 times, flipped gosh knows how many, and since the rev limiter box stopped working, over revved too. Ive hit 70kmhr on it, and i know that because my dad clocked me on his KQ750. As far as reliablility, until the day that piston blew, and even on the day that piston went, actually, it started first pull everytime. Still does. and the funny thing is that i find it likes running in winter more than summer, although maybe being two-stroke has something to do with it? the only time the belt slips is when you have it deep enough to kill the engine, and we've only put one belt on it, two years ago and it cost $30cdn. Best machine ive had yet, its been in the shop less times than my dads KQ, and the KQ is a really reliable machine, and has been for us. I dont know so much about the newer Polaris's, but when it comes to the old ones i'd buy another in a heartbeat.
