Default 99' scrambler 400 4x4

Ended up finding another scrambler, in much better shape then my '95 scrambler.

It has a pipe an silencer on it, the pipe is made up of "cones" welded togather, and has an aluminum straight through silencer on it. Any Idea what brand it is and is it any good?

It runs good, seems pretty "pipey". I think it has a slightly higher engagement then stock. Seems to bog on a take off, and slowly pick up speed, feels like the belt is slipping sometimes. Belt doesnt look bad at all, sits about an 1/8th inch above secondary cliutch.

Is there any good instructions on how to disassemble the secondary clutch on the net? I am familiar with how they work, just not tuning them.

I would guess the secondary is opening up too fast. On the road, my buddys '04 scrambler 500 got me good off the line, but I did catch up and pass him.

Any ideas?

I would get a pipe that you know what it is and clutch to that pipe. The right pipe and clutching is critical on these .

That machine should have no problem eating up that 500 4 stroke. A good cleaning of the carb, and clutches will get you back in the game. Depending on your elevation, main jet somewhere between 190 and up, Hotseat has a decent set up for the clutching. While you have the carb off, check your reed pedals for wear. Other things to inspect are the sprockets, chain, and counter balancer

On a 400 2stroke better start jetting a 270 and drop down from there.Stock jetting is 210-230
I ussually end up close to 260
