I bought a 2002 sportsman 700 about two weeks ago, and the guy i bought it from said the speedo didnt work and if I replaced it then everything would work. Well I bought a new one put it on and still nothing. Nothing on the speedo works at all. My question is what could be anyother problems causing it not to work I'm not really worried about my speed lol I just would like to have my gauges.

 

Did you check the sensor before/after you replaced the speedometer?

 

No I took the guys word for it he said he was told by a mechanic that's what needed to be done. I bought a sensor though after switching the speedo just waiting for the hubby to get home from out of state to change it. We also bought another wiring harness just incase its in the wiring.

 

Sounds like you've got everything you'll need to get it working again. A lot of times it turns out to be the sensor.

did you get the correct year speedo for the bike?? what does or doesnt work on it?

 

Yeah i got the right one i checked the part number on the back with the one on it, and with a mechanics shop here where i live. nothing works on the speedo at all.

 

you should have to awd as well if nothing is working onthe speedo. you would think at least the speedo light would be working. warn harness and plug is good? any power going to the speedo? good luck and let us know.
