you can use a multi tester and unhook the pos. term. and put the tester between the batt = side and the red terminal and it should tell you the draw amount. just a thought.

You don't need a AC/DC scope or current clamp on test meter. All you need is a plain old ordinary 12 volt test light.

You can remove the + or the - terminal which ever one is the easiest to get to. Connect the ground of the test light to your battery cable and the other end to the battery post.

If the light comes on you have something drawing current from the battery.

The amount of draw he is having from the battery will not turn on the test light. That test will help find a short in the curcuit.........If that test works his battery would be dead in no time!!......Caper...........

My Quads are 2006 both have over 3500 miles and still have the factory battery!
Up here in Canada the winters get very cold and my quads still start up I seen the temps reach -40 deg.......This is when -40 =-40 Cel. of Far.
Are you in a cold area?...Don't matter here's what to do.......

You need to find a friend that has a AC/DC scope or current clamp on test meter.
This will go over the RED (+) wire and show DC amps drawn.
The scope would be better due to the fact it will show a graph and give a read-out over a period of time.......Stendori's idea will help also but remember the arc will be very small and may need to be seen after dark if there is a very small drain on the Battery.

The price of the battery will not fix your issue, only help in reserved Cap. with all the extras you have..........keep us up to date..good luck......Caper.......

Here is my

Thanks everyone for all the feedback. I have to agree I didn't think 18 month was very good either. I also agree a new battery is not the fix. I had to reschedule my trip so it looks like next weekend I will bring the quad back home for further inspection.
I will keep you posted.

If you know someone that works in a plant of factory...They may be able to get you a test meter with the read-out.....

'Fluke" meters are the most common among Trade's people........Caper.
