Guys I Need Some Tech Help 99 SP500
#21
I tried running it out of fuel cold but it still did it and I replaced the needle and seat, did a submersion test on the float and checked float level but new parts can be bad too, next week I'll pull the carb and recheck to see how well the needle is stopping fuel flow,I do remember on a ride over the summer it was running fine but I got into a canal in some deep water and when I got out I pulled the airbox lid just as a precaution and noticed what I thought was water in the airbox but after draining it I noticed it was fuel, not alot, maybe less than 2 ounces so you may very well be right.Still hydrolocking would not be affected by temps or would it?

Started it up this morning and turned the fuel off and let it run out and cut off while cold, tried to start it and the starter would not turn over the motor, after two bumps of the starter it began spinning over, turned the fuel back on and it started, drove it about 20 minutes to burn off any moisture that might build up.I let it sat off with the fuel on for about a hour and checked the bowl overflow and had no drip. After it was warmed up I had no start issue.Oh well, unless something else develops pertaining to this I'll stay quite on the issue

when it would not key start, will it not pull start either??? if it don't i would pull the starter drive out put the pull start back on and let it freeze. if it pull starts then its the drive, that has been known to lock up BOTH the electric AND the pull start.i know you said its new.also do the compression test also. whichever is easiest first.
