Default Sanding out scratches?

I am just curious, has anyone ever tried sanding and buffing out scratch marks on the colored plastic parts?

The way I ride it wouldn't do much good if I buffed it out. I never tried to.

I have buffed out the plastic front fenders on our 500HOs, seems like the natural place to put your feet while crossing creeks. Never needed to sand just used a foam pad and the heat smooths the scratches but they were not deep. If you need to sand, anything finer than 1000 grit is fine to buff, work up from 600 wet for deep ones.

Thanks, I kind of figured it could be done but I didn't want to make it worse. I have some deep scratches from the machine being rolled.

As for Tommy and Jumbo, sorry, I can't tell if you are bragging or complaining.

Thanks for the reply. I will most likely have the same thing. My green 550 has some fairly deep road rash and I will have to start out with about 100 grit and work my way up to 1500 and then try buffing.
