I own a 2000 TB. Spent most of last year riding it on the trails in Michigan. Only mods I have done were A arm plates swingarm skidplate dg bumper renthals and handguards all cosmetic. As this season aproaches I would like to start performance upgrades to my machine. I have heard many things about what to do and not to do. My question is, if I were to put a clutch kit and pipe on this machine would it give me the same performance as a 87 cyclone had? I am also confused on what clutch kit to buy. Some people say a clutch kit that comes with a new helix is a waste on a 250 all it needs is wheights and springs, some say otherwise. any help would be greatly appreciated. Also the pipe I am considering is the HPD with the MSA spark arrestor muffler will this rob any power Vs. the msa? Thanks again.

You are on the right track. An HPD pipe/silencer, and clutch kit will give you great gains. I'd throw in a Uni-Filter as well. If there were any performance differences between the two silencers you mentioned, it would be so small, that you would not be able to tell. I have the HPD spark arrestor silencer on my Sport, and I love the sound difference.

I believe the Cyclone came with a 34mm carb. They were supposedly quite fast.
