Once you clean out your recoil, make sure you clean the pluse coil's magnetic face also. Water and crap will work its way down the rope hole, the only sure way to stop it, is to silicone the rope handle over the rope hole.

This will give you a idea on how to clean the carb, its a round slide not a CV carb but it gives you a good idea still. Disassembly and Cleaning of a Mikuni Round slide Carburetor

well I rode it hard and long this weekend and I can say I am impressed with it for being a older machine.the trails didnt beat the crap out of me like it did on my honda.I still have some work to do like pull the clutches and reseal behind it because my belt is still getting wet and now It want crank and is stuck on the trailer.Oh yea is it normal for a 500 to use a full tank of gas in 40 miles? If it is thats cool just wondering and I did ride the snot out of it.

Probably just need the clutch cover gasket, and no its not normal to use that much gas unless your working it hard in deep snow oe something but I would ride it some more and see how it does

Did you check the inside vent tube connection under and beside the air box? I have the same problem right now need to take the clutches off to reseal the clutch cover back plate shaft holes.

when I had the carb out I made sure all the breather hoses were good and snug.I pretty sure its behind the clutches now.I will let you know how it works once I figure out why I have no fire. The previous owner had a no fire issue and he said it was in the swith.who knows.I guess its time to buy a service manual. Is there a better or worse one I should get?

There is no Kaw product that uses the same bendix.

Also ONE bendix fits almost all Polaris ATVs.
