I need help, my temp idiot light keeps coming on sparatically even during the winter. The two hoses are hot to touch but don't seem to be hot enough to turn the temp light on. I pulled the temperature sending unit and the sending unit for the fan out of the machine and tested them both, according to Polaris specs. I also discontected the rad hoses to see if the water pump was working. Everything checked out fine, so now i'm at a loss, any ideas????

Assuming your temp switch is working properly and you do actually have a Hi temp the first thing to check is your radiator, it could be plugged with mud or snow depending where you ride. Take your garden hose or you can use a HP washer "carefully" and flush it thoroughly. The water should pass through the rad with lots of flow. The other thing to check is that the cooling fan is coming on every time it's called upon. The fan bearings can seize preventing the fan motor from turning.

Uh, how good is your anti-freeze?
If your coolant is frozen, it isn't circulating.
The engine would be hot, but the radiator & hoses may not be.

... just a thougt.

Try jumping the thermo switch while the hot light is on.If it goes out after a few minutes replace the switch,if not ck what everyone else said.
