Default Winch running backwards

I have a Warn 2000 that I recently upgraded to 2.5. At the same time, I had an alternator shop replace the terminals on the winch, as one of them sheared off when I took the old cables off. After installing the new contactor, thumbswitch, and wiring everything per the instructions, the winch runs in when I push the out button, and vise versa. I am wondering which wires it would be safe to switch to make the switch work correctly?

Most likely the wires to the switch are crossed at the contactor.

The wires to the switch can only be plugged together one way - green to green and black to black. All the wires are on the correct colored terminals. I switched the yellow and blue at the contactor, putting them on the opposite terminal and it runs in the correct direction indicated by the switch now.

when the shop rebuilt it they put the motor back together 180deg wrong. what you need to do to fix this put a scratch mark on the cap (when I say cap i mean the housing where the + wire is)and motor housing (the middle part) and the end near the spool all in line with each other. what happened is they put the magnetic fields 180deg backwards. now remove the 2 long thin bolts bolts I think they are about 8mm rotate the middle housing 180deg and put it back together with the cap and end marks aligned the marks on the middle will be on the opposite side when its all back together it will work as it should.
To simplify take the 2 end bolts out spin middle sleeve 180 put back together. Learned this on a starter motor couldn`t figure out why the heck it was spinning backwards I had the magnetic fields in the wrong position. easy fix good luck.

Switching the cables where they hook onto the winch motor will fix it.

Right or wrong direction, just let the wire all the way out and let wind up again...viola you have it in the right direction

either one or them ideas will be fine. i just switch the cables onthe winch as it doesnt matter either way except for the thumb switch for in or out.

Just thinking about this honestly I`m second guessing myself. Hmmm I might have taken the middle section and turned it end for end rather than spinning it a 180 sorry it was 3 years ago and I didn`t make notes. ether way its not a hard job to do and if 1 way don`t fix it the other will.
I`f there is anyone that knows I could use a refresher
