Default Regrooving Tires

Anyone had any experience with cutting-regrooving tires? What did you use for cutting? I bought this chinese side by side,so my girlfriend could go with us,but the steer tires look just like the rears. I thought if i'd cut some grooves and make some openings in the bars, that it might help. It seems that with the steering wheel, you are constantly fighting with it to stay on the trail. I aligned the front-end,helped, but still isn't quite like a handlebared sportsman.

years ago i had some pretty worn tires and i took a utility knife and cut grooves across the tread blocks....it is not something i would want to do again........although it did help with the traction plowing snow

If you know anyone that races cars or go-karts on dirt, ask them if the have a "Grooving Iron". These have blades that you can adjust the depth and heat up to make the cutting some what easer.

If you are able to find a grooving iron, test the depth. to deep and you will be buying new tires anyway.

If you slip, the heat seals the wound, but it can leave a large hole. Be VERY CAREFUL with any type of cutting on tires. The cost of a doctors visit will be more then a new set of fronts.
