Okay after reading about 200 posts last night, and being jealous of TXTrailBoss, I think I'm gonna go for a new spring in my Trail Boss. Before I do this, I have a few questions:

1. Will this kill my warranty?

2. I could swear that one of the old posts I read mentioned a specific mfg. for springs. I'm gonna do a white spring, which brand do I order?

3. Should I order from RCR or my dealer?

4. Gonna try and do it myself, does the spring come with instructions? Or, am I gonna have to worry the hell outta you all?

5. Should I change the spring now or wait until I break the quad in? (I'm still on my first tank of gas).

6. Last one. I'm gonna get a couple K&N filters, but I don't see one listed for the Trail Boss. Did someone post that the Sportsman and Boss use the same size filter?

1.No,but it's so easy to switch them I switch it before I take it to dealer
2.White spring is a white spring
3.I got mine from Rick=$24 includeing shipping.See what the dealer wants
4.VERY EASY to do=unbolt the floor boards from frame(4 NUTS under floorboards,then swing floorboards out to get cover off)remove cover,remove 6 outter bolts,remove the one center bolt,remove plate,remove spring,install spring,install plate,install bolts(12ftlbs outter bolts,40ftlbs center bolt),install cover.
5.I dont know if it matters but I would wait
6.Dont know
ENJOY

I emailed K&N about the filter. They sent a reply super fast and gave me a part number to order.
a PL-1003 fits the magnum 325 stock air box not sure if your airbox is the same. Email K&N, my dealer said the spring wont void your warranty unless you f it up when you install it which from what I have found tinkering around you cant really do.
Have a blast

The TrailBoss 325 takes the PL-1003 which is marked for the 500 Sportsman, but fits the TrailBoss also. Put the white spring in, Mousin, it'll give you alot more zing in the early stages. I can stand mine up in a wheelie now. FUN!!!

I've learned that jealousy of others set-ups will ALWAYS get you in trouble with the wife. Run your boss a little longer, then enjoy the satisfaction of doing the work yourself.

Thanks guys.

I guess I'll run it a little longer before I add the spring. Should I wait before adding the filter as well?

One more thing though, will I have to re-seal the cover when I but it back on?

Nah, if your careful with the seal you should be able to re-use it w/ no problem. I heard one guy say his dealer told him he had to replace it everytime - but I don't think anyone does that. You can use grease around it to make sure it gets a good seal and don't over tighten the screws when you put the cover back on. The Primary Spring and weights are really pretty easy to do if you know how to read directions and turn a wrench. The secondary(driven)on the other hand can be a little tricky.
