Default Creeping and part #'s

I have a 2000 sportsman 500 that is hard to shift and creeping on and off. After reading alot of threads I have found it is not the belt or idle speed. So next i was going to replace the fiber washer everyone talks about. I looked at the parts diagram and they show a couple of washers and i don't know which one would be the fiber washer . Does anyone have the part numbers for the fiber washers or any other washers i may need.

Thanks,

Jim

When I had my 2000 SP 500 it had the same problem, I did replace the fiber and metal washer in the hillard clutch and it made no difference, I shimmed my secondary and still nothing. Do you self a favor and just replace the primary clutch. I found mine on ebay brand new in the box for $200. That was the only thing that worked for me.

Default Thanks for the info

I am going to try the least expensive route and replace the washers.

Thanks,

Jim

7556204 fiber and 7556202 brass shim.

Keep the old fiber shim handy(or get 2 of them) and when you replace both shims and reinstall and tighten the spider, see if there is any side play in the 1 way clutch drive(the part that allows it to have EBS) If there is side play, cut the old fiber shim the same size as the brass shim and install it next to the 1 way under the brass shim. Retighten the spider and see if the play is gone, and the 1 way will move freely. If it will move freely, install the spring and cover and install it. It it doesn't move freely, take the fiber shim that you cut, back out and just install the brass shim. I have done this several times(yesterday in fact) and had great success. The one way needs very little side play, but must rotate freely or else it will squeal on you.
